Description

The full performance class works under immediate supervision and requires some knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting techniques; building codes, safety practices and procedures, wood finishing; reading and interpreting blue prints; use of hand and electric tools; operating small machinery, bobcat and forklift; concrete and block work; mathematics to perform semi-skilled building maintenance duties to assist Trades Specialists. This is the first level in a four level series and performs semi-skilled work, it is distinguished from the Trades Specialist which performs journey-level trade's work.
HOURS OF WORK: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday - Friday) or 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (4 days/week)
Duties/Responsibilities

Under supervision assists with routine and non-routine maintenance and repairs of County buildings. Performs a variety of preventative maintenance, repair, demolition, renovation, and winterization of County buildings. (e.g. basic carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and masonry). Finishes and refinishes wood furniture and products, stains and varnishes wood products; prepares walls for plastering and stucco; hang, patch and repair drywall; installs wallboards; paints fixtures, rooms and buildings. Determines the proper tools and materials to use for projects. Responsible for operating equipment such as hand and power tools, specialized trade tools, forklifts, bobcats and tractors. Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, tools and parts; unload supplies from trucks by using forklifts or by hand; delivers office supplies to departments, moves furniture as requested. Documents and maintains records as needed/required. Follows all safety practices and procedures.

Assists with complex projects and installations (e.g. building cabinets and shelving; installing countertops, duct work, HVAC units and electrical systems.

Performs general housekeeping of jobsites, work and storage areas, empties trash, sweeps and mops floors.

Performs and completes other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and 12 mos. experience in the performance of construction related and/or building maintenance duties; Valid Ohio Driver's License.

- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:Renewal of any mandated training required by facility (e.g., LEADS training to include passing BCI and FBI background check).
