Columbus Weddings and Dispatch Magazines Special Sections Editor

Dispatch Magazines in Columbus is seeking an editor to oversee Columbus Weddings, a semi-annual publication, and special sections and advertorial content for sister publications Columbus Monthly and Columbus CEO.

Responsibilities:

Columbus Weddings
  • Conceptualize stories and Real Weddings features for each issue of the of the magazine (June, December) based on real wedding submissions, pitches from freelancers and/or vendors, etc.
  • Post regular content to the Weddings front online (ideally 2-4 times per week; one story per week minimum)
  • Coordinate content for biweekly (or weekly) newsletter and deliver to web editor.
  • Post regularly to social (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter) to promote web content, newsletter signup, real wedding submissions, etc.
Special Sections Editor:
  • Conceptualize unique angles for each story. Work with sales reps to identify committed advertisers. Assign the stories and edit delivered copy (or write it personally). Source photography.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's in communications, journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in digital content production and management, including search engine optimization, metrics analysis, social media strategies and digital innovation as well as identifying trending content.
  • Experience in Magazine Publications and or Wedding/Event Planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media and customer feedback tools, including how to respond and engage customers on digital platforms in the public space.
  • Creative advertorial and design in print and online necessary.
  • Excellent organizational, inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
  • Industry knowledge.
  • Keen eye for proofreading and command of AP style.
  • Be considered as a thought-leader in digital/social media content and stays current on digital content trends.
