Length: Term of position is 52 weeks total with the first 10 weeks at full-time (40 hrs/wk) and then remaining 42 weeks at part-time (16 hrs/wk)
Living Allowance: $15.00/hr

Title of Position: Natural Resource Specialist
Stewards Individual Placements (Stewards) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. Stewards in partnership with the Bureau of Reclamation are seeking an intern who will provide assistance to collect field data in support of Reclamations Geographic Information Systems (GIS) efforts; analyze geospatial data for accuracy; prepare detailed land ownership, land use, and relocation maps working from survey notes, deed descriptions, and other rights-of-way documents; prepare maps/drawings for use in planning reports, brochures, and public involvement activities; curate a wide array of data types in appropriate software systems; perform other duties as assigned related to land resource,, recreation, and environmental subjects. Subject matter may include detailed layouts of environmental, cultural and natural resources, and recreation areas; plan and elevation views of major structures; and water delivery systems.
Must be a US Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
Must be at least 18 years old by start date of position
Must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate education
Must not have been convicted of a felony or be a registered Sex Offender & submit to background screenings
Must have a dedication and interest in environmental stewardship and community service

Minimum Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to search files and records, compile, verify and assemble data to produce reports/spreadsheets and knowledge of computer data entry
Organized, critical thinking, and time management
Knowledge of spelling, format, grammar, and punctuation to facilitate proofreading of prepared material and correction of errors
Skill in using ESRI (GIS) software (ArcPro, AGOL, Field Maps, Survey 123, etc)
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; to exercise initiative and work independently; and to take direction and instruction
Expectations:
Complete midterm and final reporting of project accomplishments
Timely completion and submission of all personnel paperwork, timesheets, and reports
A log of daily activities accomplished is due to Reclamation every two weeks
Adherence to Southwest Conservation Corps and agency/partner policies and procedures
Reporting of any safety incidents related to the position duties
