About the RoleThe Company is seeking a Vice President for Academic Research (VPAR) to spearhead the development of its new Office of Academic Research and expand its portfolio of academic research, scholarship, and creative works. This role is pivotal in advancing the institution's mission and strategic priorities, particularly in the context of a highly successful, specialized research institute. The VPAR will work closely with the Vice President for the research institute to foster a culture of collaboration and support a wide range of research and scholarly activities that involve undergraduate and graduate students, as well as all academic units on campus. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished scholarly background, a proven track record in academic research, and a dedication to education. They must possess substantial administrative leadership experience, a keen understanding of research compliance and integrity, and the ability to translate research for societal impact and economic growth.Applicants for the VPAR position at the company must hold an earned doctorate degree, with a strong research record, and at least 7 years' of progressive leadership experience in academic administration, research, or innovation and commercialization. The role requires a strategic leader with exceptional budgetary and management skills, a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence, and a proactive, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset. The VPAR will be responsible for driving the strategic expansion of academic research, growing research revenue, and expanding undergraduate student research. They should demonstrate a record of success in networking, fostering research partnerships, and promoting the full spectrum of scholarship. Experience in research funding issues, policy, and successful administration of a research-support enterprise is essential.
