Description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Wastewater Operator, operates and maintains the municipal wastewater treatment plant and sanitary collection system; performing a variety of tasks, including laboratory analysis.
Duties
Monitor and record all flows at the wastewater treatment plant; perform various chemical, biological and bacterial testing and analysis required by federal and state regulatory agencies; perform sampling and process control testing to maintain proper levels of flows, waste/return sludge reates, solids inventory and solids mass balances.
Perform routine maintenance of valves, pumps, piping and related equipment necessary for the operation and maintenance of the treatment of wastewater; assist in the repair of broken mains and related appurtenances and equipment in the collection system; perform sewer service line connections inspections as required; assist with sludge management plan.
Consult with and provide information to the Chief Operator regarding the treatment plant operations; monitor, analyze and convey information regarding EPA regulations to the Chief Operator and assist in promulgation and implementation of appropriate policies to ensure compliance; sign EPA reports.
Other duties as may be required or assigned, including assisting other divisions to achieve assigned tasks.
Qualifications
Class II Wastewater Treatment Operator's License is required
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Ohio Driver License with CDL endorsement
3+ years experience in treatment plant facility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations and processes; knowledge of federal and state wastewater regulations; ability to read blueprints and record readings from gauges; ability to perform maintenance tasks within the treatment facility and in the collection system; knowledge and appreciation of safety requirements regarding handling of hazardous chemicals and work environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of settings. Job may require on call, nights and weekend work in adverse weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous gases and chemicals is possible. Using safety procedures and common sense will keep you safe....
