Your Opportunity
Our Ohio Operations has an opportunity for a Professional Surveyor within our Transportation Team. The position is primarily office based either in Columbus, Cincinnati or Cleveland within a hybrid working environment. The successful candidate will assist in providing our clients a full range of surveying and mapping services focused on Right-of-Way Plan Development. Occasional field work and travel may be required.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and/or review right of way documents and plans in accordance with Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Survey, Right-of-Way, and Real Estate Manuals.
  • Direct the work of field crews in the establishment of project control.
  • Accurate retracement of existing right of way, easements, and property lines including performing the necessary research of record documents.
  • Work with engineering teams in determining proposed right of way takes.
  • Drive company or personal vehicle to reach jobsites.
  • Certifies surveys are compliant with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Identifies hazardous situations and applies company safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Well-developed understanding of field survey methods and calculations including the use of GPS, data collectors, total stations, robotics, and relevant survey equipment.
  • Solid understanding of local survey laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience performing field boundary, topographic, and land title surveys.
  • Strong skills in time management, organization, and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
  • Availability to travel out of town and overnight when needed.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word and Excel
  • Proficient in Bentley MicroStation/ORD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D


Education and Experience
  • Education: Technical degree, diploma, certificate of equivalent in related field required.
  • Experience: Meets, or within one year of meeting, requirements of ODOT pre-qualification for Right-of-Way Plan Reviewer.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered Professional Surveyor in the State of Ohio or ability to achieve licensure within one year required.
