Director of Technology Infrastructure

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the company's wide-area and local-area data networks, including connections to the internet, secure connections via VPNs, and internal communication.
Manage the company's Windows server resources, including internal websites, e-mail, storage, infrastructure (naming services, address assignment, user accounts, print and file servers). Ensures security and high availability of all servers and services, as well as day to day maintenance and monitoring. Writes custom scripts and programs to solve unique problems not solvable by off-the-shelf software.
Manage all aspects of the company's electronic data backup system, including capacity planning, offsite storage, and day to day maintenance and monitoring of tape libraries, tapes, enterprise backup system, and clients.
Working with vendors, design and implement short, and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements. Ensure installation, configuration and optimal operation of all network and telecommunication hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, etc.
Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, intrusion detection systems, and compliance with PCI standards and audit processes. Negotiate and work closely with business partners, vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network, application products and services.
Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Providing high quality support in a technical environment that includes NT, networking and data communications.
Monitoring network resources for performance, auditing and security of routers, servers and network equipment, to ensure integrity and security of computer data.
Prepares operating and capital budget recommendations for infrastructure area in general and each specific system component in particular, must be able to make recommendations and decisions regarding possible technology changes or upgrades and level of service standards based on technology life cycles and project requirements.
Evaluates and recommends the selection and purchasing of infrastructure hardware and software as it related to projects and needs. Researches and makes recommendations regarding implementation of new programs, systems and/or technologies including time and cost estimates.
Monitors and optimizes server resources to ensure they are appropriately sized for excellent service, yet cost effective month over month.
Validation and authorization of data requests for information to policy as well as control and execution of compliance with retention policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or seven years equivalent work experience.
8-10 years experience managing enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, VPNs, PBX, etc.
5-7 years experience in designing, implementing & supporting complex highly-available, secure and redundant networks with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators & load balancers.
Experience managing or supervising network staff. Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards such as Virtualization, SSL, VPN and Citrix environments.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of related hardware and software including firewall, VPN network security, QIP, MPLS, SNMP, Frame-relay, DNS, TCP, UDP, ICMP, DS3.
Highly self-motivated and directed. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong customer service orientation.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Exceptional leadership and personnel management skills.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
4+ years experience managing technical vendors and proven experience in coordination of delivery of IT services.
Considerable knowledge and understanding of Microsoft suite of products including but not limited to Azure, DevOps, Active Directory, Exchange, File/Print Services, Web Services, etc.
Knowledge of a wide variety of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
Travel - less than 10% expected.
