**Development Parts Buyer**

The purpose and function of the Development Parts Buyer is to oversee the entire supply chain for all Accessory Development Division (ADD) parts ordering and delivery through effective planning, communication, and supplier interface.

At Honda, our associates take pride in their responsibilities. A typical day for a Accessories Buyer will include:

* Thorough understanding and accurate maintenance of process related systems (SAP Ariba, FedEx Ship Manager, SharePoint Tracking) to negotiate, schedule, monitor and manage event build and sample orders/deliveries from Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers and ensure sufficient/timely delivery to meet development milestone requirements.

* Investigate root cause for late orders, develop resolution and/or recovery plans with suppliers and track to closure.

* Establish and maintain communication networks with supply base to promote positive relationships focused on delivery performance.

* Represent Honda with minimal supervision in interactions with suppliers to request, review, and negotiate quotes.

* Identify, evaluate, and escalate critical issues to management with planned path forward based on dialogue between buyer and supplier. Buyer identifies gaps and develops specific countermeasures to mitigate risk of critical issue.

* Create and process Purchasing related documents as required including Award Letters, Letters of Intent, and Schedule Requests

* Collaborate with department project leaders to support all specified Development projects to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI) target

* Through continuous improvement strengthen business processes, streamline reporting, and enable effective and efficient Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) cycles for area of responsibility

* Develop capability of self and others through training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences in area of technical expertise to improve understand and team growth

* Maintain reporting and Gemba activity for root cause analysis/countermeasure implementation to solve simple to complex problems.

* Support company vision through Business Plan, Marutoku, and other department initiatives in area of knowledge and technical expertise.

**Qualifications**

* Bachelors degree preferably in business, quantitative analysis, or engineering

* 2-5 ears of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Experience in purchase order processing, project management, cost analysis, or automotive development desired

* Knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing flow

* Strong organization skills

* Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail

* Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently with limited direction

* Consistently identify opportunities for continuous improvement

* Collect data and apply business knowledge to solve a range of problems

* Able to negotiate directly with suppliers for cost/schedule concerns

* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and internet search tools

* Understanding of SAP Ariba

Knowledge and Skills

* Management for consultation, guidance, and business approvals

* Development Team Members (Design, Engineering, Test & QC) for all project activities including VA/VE activities and development concerns

* Department Team Members for all cost planning and schedule management activities to assure cost achievement and on time development

* Suppliers for all sample cost and development schedule attainment

* AHM to help facilitate marketing orders and recovery plans in the event of unanticipated delays).
