Description

Performs seasonal park maintenance duties including equipment operation tasks; does related work as required, unsupervised. Ability to adjust schedule as needed.

Shifts may include:

Monday - Friday: 7 am- 3:30 pm

Tuesday - Saturday: 7 am - 3:30 pm

Sunday - Thursday: 7 am - 3:30 pm

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the general direction of the Parks Manager. Position may serve as crew leader and/or lead worker as directed by supervisory staff. Work is inspected and reviewed through personal communication and post project reviews.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK

(May not include all duties performed.)

Performs various park cleanup including but not limited to: litter collection, cleaning restrooms and emptying trash bins.

Performs landscaping maintenance including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, cleaning, clearing, planting, and watering,.

Attends all assigned meetings and informs supervisors of suggestions and comments that could better the parks and recreation operation.

Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation Department as directed by supervisors.

Carries out additional responsibilities as assigned.

Cleans and maintains equipment and reports problems to supervisor.

This position is required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.

Waters annual flowers when conditions require.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK

Valid Ohio driver's license

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Ability to develop a working knowledge of the current methods, materials, practices and tools used in the exterior maintenance of parks and recreation facilities.

Ability to learn applicable safety practices.

Ability to exercise good judgment and function within broad guidelines.

Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear, concise manner.

Ability to work effectively with other City personnel and the public.

Ability to operate department spray truck for watering.
