POSITION SUMMARY
Center for Diversity and Inclusion provides support, resources, and programming for BIPOC students to succeed at
DePauw. The CDI Summer Student Assistant will have the opportunity to develop their technical skills through a
variety of projects as well as the opportunity to suggest and pursue unique initiatives in support of the BIPOC
student community. Many projects will support the CDI fall and spring programs. Coordination with other
offices at DePauw (Admissions and Institutional Equity) and CDI-affiliated groups (e.g. AAAS, Brotherhood, CLC,
Feminista, etc...) will be required. When not working on assigned projects, student employees will be responsible
for the essential functions outlined later (manning the front desk at the CDI building, redirecting students, and
managing CDI reservations, inventory, and storage.)

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Front Desk Coverage - Respectfully engage with all visitors and callers of the center
Frequent monitoring of the CDI email account and digital signage, as well as management of CDI website
and newsletter
Assist with CDI storage organization and inventory of programming/event supplies
Manage CDI event calendars and coordinate building access for events; space reservations, cancellations,
and documentation communication of work order needs
Occasionally engage in outreach engagements, including summer tabling events and CDI tours
Submit bi-weekly time cards and manage weekly hours to remain within given budget
Manage closing shift schedules (11pm-12am); schedule, document, facilitate closing meetings
Complete other duties as assigned

the CDI.
PREFERED SKILLS ABILITIES
Education: Must be enrolled as a current DePauw student and in good academic standing. Minimum GPA
of 3.0 or higher preferred.
Experience: Interest in scheduling and program event coordination. Ability to create and manage
Google Forms and spreadsheets. Ability to manage social media and promote events. Ability to manage a
newsletter. All preferred, but not required.
Communication/Language: Experience representing a group or organization in verbal and written
communication that promotes collaboration and promotes further connection.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Applications; Social media content creation
and management
Responsibility: Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Confidentiality: Being able to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information.
Team/Group Experience: Previous experience in effectively functioning within a team
Prior administrative experience including, but not limited to answering phones, responding to emails,
developing and maintaining filing systems, inventory maintenance, scheduling, etc.
Certificates Licenses: Certificates Licenses: BigTree Website Training Certification, Implicit Bias Training,
Campus Security Authority Training, Anthology Training, Google Suite, Canva
CODES OF CONDUCT

Below are outlined key components of the Code of Conduct for Center for Diversity and Inclusion student
employees, in addition to rules and regulations guiding all DePauw students in the Academic Handbook and the
Student Handbook.
Attendance: Student staff members are required to attend and participate fully in each day of scheduled
training, prior to the opening day, and biweekly check-ins after school begins. Student staff members are
also expected to be on-campus throughout the summer.

Confidentiality Privacy: As student staff members work very closely with staff and
domestic/international student records, they are required to ensure student privacy (such as immigration
status, enrollment status, financial information, etc).
Conflicts of interest: Students affiliated with or involved in any organization or entity should not use this
position for recruitment purposes.
Culture: Student staff members are expected to uphold the published mission of the Center for Diversity
and Inclusion as they welcome and support students from all over the world through their service
throughout the year.
Dress code: During shifts, it is expected that student staff members will wear appropriate casual attire.
Business casual attire may be required for some functions.
Positivity Engagement: Student team members are strongly encouraged to bring high levels of
enthusiasm and positivity during their duties throughout the summer.
Adherence to community standards Applicants authorize the Center for Diversity and Inclusion to

Disciplinary actions that may be taken
Any kind of harassment, discrimination, breach of confidentiality will result in position termination
Student Employees that fail to hold the standards of accountability and attendance risk losing their position
