Dog Trainer
Job description
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB: A trainer prepares dogs to the high standards expected of a service dog in public work, task training and manners. This would include working with volunteers and clients in one-on-one and group scenarios. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES:**
* **Train service dogs for clients assigned in all areas related to task training, public work and manners.**
* **Complete weekly training reports per dog and manage time effectively and intentionally through accurate daily time keeping.**
* **Conduct biweekly check ins with volunteer trainers and use the information to support the volunteer trainer and utilize the information to best prepare the dog for placement.**
* **Be assigned additional clients to work closely with volunteers to prepare service dogs in training for placement.**
* **Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.**
**REQUIRED ABILITIES:**
* **Valid driver's license**
* **Clean driving record**
* **Comfort with the computer and ability to learn new skills and programs**
* **Engaging with people and ability to train and lead them**
* **Ability to work in an environment catering to dogs**
* **Physically able to perform responsibilities including lifting supplies and large breed dogs of all ages**
* **Active participation in a team work environment with good communication skills with all members of the team and departments at 4 Paws.**
**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:**
* **Experience working as an active member of a team**
* **Teaching/Leadership Experience**
* **Salesforce, Google Drive, Canvas, etc**
* **Service Dog Training experience preferred**
