About Us:Our mission is to save lives, reduce injuries and economic loss, administer Ohio's motor vehicle laws and preserve the safety and wellbeing of all citizens.What You'll Do:Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway PatrolReport In Location - 1970 W Broad Street, Columbus 43223[CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE] Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. Subject to change.Under direction of the GIMS System Administrator, conducts complex analysis of multiple Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases (e.g., Statistical Analysis Unit (SAU) Computer-Aided Dispatch System (CAD), Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) Electronic Crash System, fatal crash database, & OVI checkpoint database); Utilizes GIS software (MapInfo Professional) to produce &/or revise maps related to highway crash statistics &/or OSHP enforcement activities; Designs & implements, independently or in coordination with other SAU staff, data analysis functions that involve the creation of GIS maps &/or the data used in the creation of maps; Utilizes macro-language programming &/or Structured Query Language (SQL) for GIS operations; Coordinates applications design & finalizes products based on user needs.Assists &/or educates users regarding GIS technology &/or the opportunities GIS technology affords to resolve resource management issues; Ensures that GIS operations adhere to applicable standards for data capture, data manipulations & output (e.g., systematically organizes files on server; maintains data integrity, etc.); Transforms final products to storage media; Generates data reports to include meta-data &/or describe mapping results; Prepares &/or delivers presentations related to the Divisions mapping capabilities &/or the results of data analysis using mapping technology.Performs other duties as assigned by the GIMS System Administrator &/or SAU supervisor (e.g., assists other sections staff with research & evaluation projects relating to the Divisions goals & objectives; performs miscellaneous clerical tasks; attends applicable trainings &/or meetings, etc.).What's in it for you:At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans.
