Puppy Pound Daycare Staff

Job Title: Childcare Provider
Department: Puppy Pound Staff Daycare/Preschool
Reports to: Early Education Principal
Classification: Non-Exempt


Summary
Childcare provider's goal is to provide a safe loving learning environment for children 6 weeks through the Pre-K years.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Be to work on time.
  2. Call-in, if you cannot be to work, as soon as you find out that you cannot come in.
  3. Make sure you know where all of the children under your care are at all times.
  4. Provide a classroom environment where the child feels loved and is learning.
  5. Make sure your classroom is clean.
  6. Make sure your classroom is safe.
  7. Make sure all of the toys and equipment are clean and in good working order.
  8. Make sure the children under your care are working and playing safely.
  9. Get rid of or fix any broken toys or equipment that may be harmful to the children.
  10. Keep a count of the children you have in your care at all times.
  11. Separate any unruly or out-of-control child from the rest of the children until his/her behavior improves.
  12. Report any unruly or out of control child to the director.
  13. Keep an open line of communication with the parents concerning their child's progress in academics and behavior.
  14. Be cordial when speaking with parents, other staff members and most of all the children.
  15. Make sure you report to the director necessary supplies needed for teaching.
  16. Adhere to any and all additional instructions given to you by the director that is not listed in the handbook.
  17. Adhere to all the policies, procedures and regulations of the building and district.
  18. Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy.

Supervisory Duties
Supervise children at all times as directed by the daycare director.


Qualifications
High School Diploma
CPR certified


Skills and Abilities
1. Carry and lift at least thirty pounds.
2. Is frequently required to stand, stoop, bend and kneel.
3. Be willing to change diapers, clean up any type of messes that occur during the care of small children.
4. Clean up after projects and meals.
5. Organize age appropriate projects and activities.


Attendance
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.


Reasoning
1. Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
2. Occasionally solve problems involving concrete variables within standardized situations.


Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for outdoor play and learning.


Terms of Employment
Hours vary due to the needs for the daycare.
