Community Health Worker, MOMS Part Time
Job description
The Community Health Worker recruits participants and leads groups for the M-O-M-S Intervention trial (Mentors Offering Maternal Support), funded by the National Academy of Science to address strategies to improve mental health in regions affected by disaster. This position requires regular work in the Houma region.
Responsibilities include recruiting participants at prenatal clinics, community events, and other locations; leading 6-week sessions of groups of 10-12 women; and assisting with data collection when necessary.
This role is an entry-level position. Training will be provided to develop the necessary skills required of a Community Health Worker.
Experience with pregnancy, delivery, and motherhood
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong commitment to the community and its members
Ability to work with community members from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to motivate and work with individuals to promote participation in the project.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Willingness to participate in a comprehensive training program.
Willingness and ability to travel by car to and work in community spaces.
Evening and weekend hours may be required.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
1 year of related experience working with community-based programs or in a relevant clinical or social service setting
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field
Research and/or data collection experience
Counseling or clinical experience, especially with pregnant women or new mothers
Fluency in Spanish...
