The College of Engineering and Computer Science is seeking to hire one graphic design student. The graphic design student assistant will assist with the production and design of printed and digital marketing materials for the College of Engineering & Computer Science Internship & Career Services Office including: flyers, brochures, posters, web banners & advertisements, e-mail blasts, and social media campaigns. They will update and maintain existing publications to meet University Marketing Style Guidelines and proof materials for accuracy.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI position for a different UEI postion should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice.

Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (i.e., degree, license, or official transcript), DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

Prerequisites

Must be a Sac State student enrolled in at least six-semester units (undergrad) or four-semester units (graduate) students.

Majors/Fields of Study

Graphic Design or have experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop

Work Schedule

Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor.

Additional Work Schedule

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a 2.0 GPA.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Proficiency in computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficiency in the different social media platform.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute projects while maintaining tight deadlines and quick turnarounds.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a team.
  • Able to implement consistent brand/visual elements across a project.
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral.
  • Detail orientated and well organized.
  • Proficient in writing and editing copy for marketing materials.
  • Familiar with current graphic design trends.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in creative design roles.
  • Advanced skilled in Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
  • Familiar with graphic design standards and practices.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meeting regularly with supervisor and/or director to provide an update on work related projects and existing graphic design needs.
  • Monitoring and updating inventories of printed materials.
  • Communicating with professional staff regarding design and promotional needs.
  • Coordinating with internal and external printing departments to ensure deadlines are met and publication materials are printed.
  • Attending university/department events, training sessions and workshops to acquire knowledge of marketing trends.
  • Assisting with developing content for social media (IG, X, LinkedIn).
  • Cross training on Handshake vetting.


Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment.
