PCB Layout Specialist

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE
Act as PCB Layout specialist, for development of portable, battery-operated products containing microcontrollers, sensors, cellular modules, short range and GPS radios.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and BASIC DUTIES
  1. Assist with design and development of PCB layouts
  2. Prepare PCB layouts, fabrication and assembly drawings.
  3. Support engineers with maintaining parts libraries, building schematic symbols and PCB footprints.
  4. Analyze and troubleshoot design and fabrication related issues in a timely fashion.
  5. Review existing PCB designs and recommend improvements.
  6. Recommend new design techniques to ensure circuit reliability and quality.
  7. Monitor and report project status to Manager on regular basis.
  8. Maintain Altium 365 system and interfaces to Arena Manufacturing.
  9. Maintain Altium templates for components, schematics, PCB's etc.
  10. Create and maintain managed components within using templates in Altium 365.
  11. Training Support for Altium users.
  12. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Contract Manufacturing to ensure efficient PCB fabrication
  13. Ensure that PCB design meets manufacturing standards.
  14. Provide support to engineering and manufacturing units when needed
  15. Experience with high speed PCB design along with RF considerations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Demonstrated experience as PCB layout specialist for numerous portable, battery-operated products containing cellular radio technologies (GSM, CDMA, etc.), GPS receivers, and antennas.
  2. Demonstarted Design for RF, Design for EMI/EMC, and Design for Test.
  3. Experience using Altium PCB Design Software and Tools. Altium 365 experience necessary at the administrator level.
  4. Experience using Altium PCB Design Software in conjunction with PLM software (CAD/PLM integration).
  5. Familiarity and experience with low-power microcontrollers, ARM-based microcontrollers, and their layout considerations.
  6. Good understanding of RF and cellular considerations regarding PCB layout and demonstrated experience with certification (FCC, PTCRB, etc.) of cellular products. through certification and passing those requirements.
  7. Ability to utilize SOLIDWORKS models imported and exported using Altium/Solidworks plugin and Step models. SOLIDWORKS experience desired.
  8. Demonstrated success in designing robust products with no hardware issues identified in User Acceptance Testing or in the field
  9. Must be self-starter and team player with good communication skills.
Education:AA in Electronics Engineering Technology or Bachelors Degree in related field with electronics experience preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
10+ years of PCB layout experience with focus on cellular and GPS technology

CompensationRange: $80K to $95K;Hourly Pay rate is $38 to $50 an hr if Contract to Hire.
