POSITION SUMMARY

The Stitcher works as part of a collaborative team to achieve the director and designer's vision to the highest production value possible in a timely manner. The Stitcher assists the Draper and First Hand in the construction of all new costumes and the alteration of stock costumes for each production.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Sew assigned costumes by hand or machine
  • Assist in fitting, stitching, or other assigned costume duties
  • Maintain and alter costumes as assigned
  • Assist in the laundering and repair of costumes throughout the run as needed
  • Assist in maintenance of costume inventory
  • Attend technical rehearsals as assigned
  • Attend regular shop meetings
  • Contribute to the training of Emerging Professional Residents (EPR)
  • Actively participate in creating a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
  • Participate in educational and outreach events
  • Assist with the Curtain Call Ball as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, non-exempt, seasonal position that typically runs July to April with exact dates depending on season calendar. For the 2024/25 season, the planned dates of employment are July 22nd, 2024 to April 27th, 2025. The bulk of the work hours will happen during regular business hours, with occasional nights and weekends as the production schedule requires.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Technical Knowledge and Experience:
  • Experience working in a professional technical theatre environment
  • Advanced skills in hand and machine sewing and finishing with an understanding of theatrical costume and construction techniques and terms
  • Willingness to learn and expand capabilities with additional training
  • Must be able to multi-task multiple projects, maintain organization, and be detail oriented

Salary Description

$16.55 per hour...
