THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Streets Superintendent, Street Maintenance is responsible for all maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, alleys, and Right of Way (ROW). Maintenance tasks include asphalt paving and patching, crack filling, curb and gutter repair, manhole and catch basin repair, street sweeping, snow and ice control, sign making, line painting, maintenance of storm water conveyance system, maintenance and cleaning of the sanitary sewer collection system, grass cutting, maintenance of City owned streetlights, and maintenance of the DPW facility and equipment.
  • Operates dump trucks and small to medium size trucks; operates equipment such as loader, loader backhoe, excavator, asphalt roller, asphalt paver, skid loader, street sweeper, air compressor, crack filler, chipper, lawnmowers, stump grinder, paint striper, and other related miscellaneous equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains City streets including asphalt repairs, crack filling, and mastic placement.
  • Cleans and rebuilds catch basins, manholes, and sewer pipe.
  • Repairs streetlights, alleys, sidewalks, streets, and other City property.
  • Removes, prunes, and plants trees; performs grass cutting and other general landscape work.
  • Sweeps and maintains City streets.
  • Cleans and maintains sanitary sewer collection system.
  • Cleans and maintains storm water collection system including culverts, pipes, catch basins, and storm water detention ponds.
  • Performs carpentry and masonry work in addition to minor plumbing and electrical repairs.


Requirements

What does it take to succeed in this role? We're looking for a motivated individual with strong project management skills and a willingness to learn. You should also have:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in trades, construction, agriculture, military, or related field
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license
  • Valid CDL or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment
